November 2025: The Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association (CHAA) is very proud to have been participating in Remembrance Day ceremonies from the skies, for many years. Each year, on & leading up to November 11, CHAA is invited to perform flypasts in ceremonies held by the Town of Shedden, the Ohsweken Six Nations community & the City of Toronto. It has be come a tradition to serve as a moving tribute to those who served & sacrificed for Canada. During these flypasts, CHAA’s volunteer pilots perform the traditional “missing man” formation, where one aircraft breaks away from the group to symbolize those who never returned home. The Harvard aircraft holds a special place in Canada’s aviation history. During the Second World War it was the primary advanced training aircraft used under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, preparing more than 130,000 aircrew for combat service. Recognized by its bright yellow paint & distinct engine roar, the Harvard became a familiar sight over airfields across the country. On November 11, for more than 20 years, 3 or 4 aircraft will head towards Toronto and fly over a number of specific locations, including the Old City Hall Cenotaph and Sunnybrook Veterans Centre, weather permitting. Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association is dedicated to restoring & displaying the Harvard aircraft to preserve an important piece of Canada’s aviation and military heritage.
