Norfolk and Tillsonburg News – June 3/24: The Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association (CHAA) celebrated the Royal Canadian Air Force’s 100th anniversary Saturday with a Centennial Fly-In at the Tillsonburg Regional Airport.
The June 1 fly-in featured vintage RCAF aircraft, including several visiting planes, historical displays, book sale, food trucks and a kids zone. Three CHAA Harvard planes, considered the most advanced, single-engine trainers during the Second World War, provided 21 flight experiences to the public – a vital fundraiser for the association.
“The Harvard played such a pivotal and significant role with the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II,” said CHAA volunteer Diana Spremo. “So we thought we would commemorate that with a special event.”
